Synuclein-α (pS129) Cell ELISA Kit is a cell-based ELISA Kit. Cells to be assayed should be seeded onto a clear flat bottom 96 well plate, using poly-L-lysine for non-adherent cells. Cells should be grown to 75-90% confluence and treated prior to carrying out the ELISA.

| Introduction | Alpha-synuclein (SNCA) is abundant in the brain while smaller amounts are found in the heart, muscle, and other tissues. In the brain, alpha-synuclein is found mainly at the tips of nerve cells in presynaptic terminals. Within these structures, alpha-synuclein interacts with phospholipids and proteins. Presynaptic terminals release chemical messengers, called neurotransmitters, from compartments known as synaptic vesicles. The release of neurotransmitters relays signals between neurons and is critical for normal brain function. |
